Functionality and effect:
Counteraction of the kyphosis in the thoracic spine area by activating the torso muscles.
Improves posture and brings pain relief by dynamically straightening the lumbar spine and thoracic

Patient instructions:
Step 1
The BORT DynamicFX Back brace that has been tailor
made for you and has
been adapted by the orthopaedic technician is pulled over the shoulders in the
same way as a backpack. In doing so, the base support is open. Please ensure
that the shoulder straps are not twisted.
Step 2
Close the base support with as much tension as possible. In order to be able
to close the base support with as little effort as possible, please use the hand
loops that are attached to the closure plates of the base support. When closing,
ensure that the base support is positioned above the groin and does not push
in an unpleasant manner when sitting. Both of the base support fasteners must
be connected to each other in a parallel manner.
Step 3
Now pull both of the side bracing elements forwards in an even manner and
secure them onto the base support.
Step 4
Then close your BORT DynamicFX Back brace chest strap.
Special information:
Please ensure that you have the fit and the functionality of the BORT DynamicFX Back brace regularly
checked by your orthopaedic technician. It is especially important to inspect the length of the shoulder
straps and the base plate and to have these components readjusted if necessary, particularly when
starting treatment with the BORT DynamicFX Back brace.
In order to ensure safety when dealing with your medical aid, it is particularly important that you
practice putting on the brace and taking it off together with your physician / physiotherapist / orthopaedic
technician.
Wearing time:
The wearing time of your brace is to be determined by your treating physician depending upon the
present indication and your personal situation within a treatment plan.
Please note that treatment with the BORT DynamicFX Back brace is a longterm treatment measure. The
sustainable treatment success will only occur after a certain period of time has passed.

Indications:
Osteoporosis, conservative treatment of secondary kyphosis (stable fractures, tumors), painful rounded
back, muscular insufficiency, conservative treatment when dealing with spondylitis, Scheuermann‘s di
sease, pre/post operative stabilisation.
Contraindications:
Inflammatory or injuryrelated changes to the skin (also includes swelling and redness) in the area of the
body to be treated. Circulatory disorders, soft tissue swelling. Neurologicallyrelated organoleptic and
skin trophic disorders in the body area to be treated (sensitivity disorders, sensory disorders with / wit
hout damage to the skin). Prolonged immobilisation (contracture), particularly amongst the elderly.

No reutilisation – this medical device is meant for the care of one patient only.
In case of doctor’s order to wear support during night, avoid hindering blood circulation. In case of numb
ness loosen support and remove it if necessary. If complaints continue, please contact the doctor.
While wearing the support do not use creams or ointments. This can damage the material.
The product contains latex and can trigger allergic
reactions.

Adjustment of the BORT DynamicFX Back brace
The adjustment of the BORT DynamicFX Back brace may only be carried out by trained specialist staff.
Step 1
Determination of the circumference
of the waist
Measure the circumference of the waist and
select the appropriate size from the available
base support sizes:

Selection the base plate
The length of the spine is measured step by step via the spinous processes of the
spine that run from the natal cleft up to the head (cranial).
The base plate is available
in 4 different lengths:
The selection of the base plate is primarily determined by the affected area / areas as well
as the individual body size of the patient.
Function of the spring tension elements:
The dynamics of the brace can be individually selected. The strength of the spring determines the de
gree of straightening and therefore, the improvement in posture.
The following spring strengths are available:
30 Newton
40 Newton
50 Newton
60 Newton
80 Newton
Spring strengths of between 80N and 60N are primarily used in postoperative cases.
50N to 30N springs should be used after half of the wearing time as recommended by the surgeon has passed.
Patients who have been treated in a conservative manner suffering from: muscular imbalance,
adicular irritation syndrome, developing spinal stenosis, irritation of the sacroiliac joint, as well as those
who are undergoing preventative stabilisation could benefit from spring strengths ranging between 30N
and 50N. These strengths are always measured in relation to the individual constitution of the patient.
Patients who have been treated in a conservative manner
suffering from: NPP (Nucleus Pulposus Prolapse),
spinal stenosis, facet syndrome, osteochondrosis, spondylolisthesis are to be supplied with
spring strengths ranging from 60N to 80N.

Insertion / replacement of the spring tension elements:
All spring tension elements are labelled by colour based upon their spring constants:
30 Newton ➡ Yellow

To replace the spring elements, detach the press stud closure of the spring pro
tective pockets and push them upwards.
Open the Allen screws on both of the belt connectors using the supplied Allen
key and replace the spring tension elements if required. Retighten the Allen
screw afterwards.
Now pull the spring protection pockets back down and reclose the press stud
closure on the base back plate.
All 3 belts of the BORT DynamicFX Back brace should be equipped with the
same spring strength.
Applying the body section:
Before applying the base support, remove it from the base plate by detaching
the Velcro. Position the base support together with the bottom edge of the back
section level with the natal cleft.
The patient now closes the base support at the front.
Adjustment of the base plate:
Now adjust the base plate to correspond to the patient‘s spine and to match the
contours of the body.
The base plate can be cold-formed without tools.
When dealing with patients who are suffering from severe inclination positions,
ensure that the spine is ideally straightened.
Now secure the base plate onto the base support. Ensure that the base plate is
formfitted with the base support on the bottom edge.
Adjustment of the reclination and shoulder straps:
Shorten the reclination and shoulder straps in the following order:
Step 1
Shorten the middle belt in such a manner that the upper edge of the shoulder
plate ends approximately 5 10 cm below the C7 cervical vertebrae.
Step 2
Then shorten both of the shoulder straps evenly.
In order to shorten the shoulder straps, please remove the crocodile fasteners
that are located on the ends of the straps respectively. After shortening, secure
the crocodile fasteners again and retighten the brace straps.
Ensure that the spring elements are slack when the body is in a reclined position. When the patient takes
a neutral posture, a looser torsion strength of the shoulder straps increases the wear comfort, yet retains
the therapeutic function.
Adjustment and application of the chest strap:
In order to shorten the chest strap, please remove the crocodile fasteners that are located on the ends
of the straps respectively. After shortening, secure the crocodile fasteners again and refasten the brace
straps onto the shoulder straps.
Shorten the chest strap in such a manner that the shoulder straps do not move into the armpit area.
The shoulder straps can be moved forwards by lightly pulling the chest strap. This prevents rubbing in
the armpit.
The chest strap can be easily opened and closed via the quick release fastener located in the centre of
the strap.
